Job Title: Chief People Officer (CPO)
How long have you worked with us? nI have been a consultant to Viatel’s leadership team since 2018 and was appointed to the role of CPO in June 2023.
Tell us a little bit about your role please
My role as Chief People Officer is to align the Viatel Technology Group people strategy with the vision, mission and values of the business. We are clear on where we want to go as an organisation but, to get there, we can only do it as a team. So, we are focused on making Viatel an amazing place to work (we were recently awarded a best place to work award by Tech Excellence), by investing in the development of our people and making sure that they are happy and fulfilled in their work.
Give us the highlights tour of your career to date
My career has always been about people. When I finished school, I moved to Wales to study law, following that I found myself working for a recruitment company in London. I worked in the recruitment world, which I refer to as my first career, for 12 years. I made great friends and worked for great companies like Brightwater and PwC, until I found my real calling in the world of executive coaching and culture development in 2011. I am so passionate about helping leaders and companies create amazing workplaces for their people to grow and flourish in their careers. It was through my role as a coach that I connected with Viatel and the rest, as they say, is history. I am happiest when I am helping people and businesses make progress towards their goals.
What do you love most about working with Viatel?
There is something very special about working with Viatel Technology Group. We have huge ambitions and we move very fast but we take care of each other. There is always a great sense of community and a feeling that together we are building something special. I wish I could bottle the camaraderie and positive energy!!! We would make a fortune
Describe yourself in three words
Motivated, curious, optimistic
Tell us something we don’t know about you
I was an air hostess for an Irish charter airline during my university summer holidays. It was the best summer job I could have asked for! I rarely got to get off the plane so I didn’t see the world, but I met some of my best friends in that job!
