Policies play a large role in retaining women in the workplace, Lauren added:

“Retention can be a big challenge too, where workplaces need to be inclusive and flexible in their policies to support women, particularly where other responsibilities outside the workplace exist, like family care. We’re doing some great things at Viatel around flexible and inclusive workplaces, our gender paygap report results are a testament to that, and with events like IWD, it gives us all a great opportunity to share knowledge and experiences, and to inspire each other.” ”

Viatel Technology Group is committed to becoming a beacon of diversity in the tech industry, In 2022, Viatel reported a gender pay gap of 4.3%. This was less than half the national average (11.3%) but the company promised to do better and in 2023, reported a gap of just 0.2%. Viatel committed to hybrid working, flexible hours and improved leave policies to help all employees balance their home and work lives.

Viatel also partnered with organisations with shared aims, becoming a member of CWiT (Connecting Women in Technology) a network of over twenty Irish based technology companies with a shared mission to attract, retain and promote women in the technology sector.
